Police Communications

Hickory Police Department's Communications Center is supervised by Nicole Sain and Shelly Davis and is one of the most modern within the area. It has four consoles with state of the art equipment that allows 12 telecommunicators and a civilian supervisor to answer over 200,000 calls for service annually. Once a call is received, the Telecommunicator enters the call for service in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. The Telecommunicator sends a Police Officer to investigate the call via 800- megahertz radio system. Last year, Hickory Police Department sent officers on over 62,810 calls for service. Each Telecommunicator is certified by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to access files from state and federal government agencies.

If any citizen needs Hickory Police Department non-emergency service they are encouraged to call (828) 328-5551, which goes directly into the police department communications center.
