Join Dr. Adam Smith, Catawba County Cooperative Extension Turf and Weed Management Specialist, in a presentation about lawn management on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.  Lawn management is expensive and time consuming – why not do it right?  Learn about fertilizing, mowing, seeding, and pest management in your lawn.  This presentation is part of our Advanced Gardener series designed to help both beginner and advanced gardeners enjoy all of the health, enjoyment, and learning that comes from managing the home landscape and growing some of your own produce.

Public input meeting for future Bruce Meisner Park

The City of Hickory plans to apply for a North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) grant in May 2019 to assist in funding a portion of Phase 1A of Bruce Meisner Park.  As a requirement of the PARTF grant application process, an informational meeting for the public will be held on Thursday, February 21, at 6 p.m. at Highland Recreation Center (1451 8th Street Drive NE), to review the PARTF grant project and receive public comments.

Detours along Main Avenue NW

Hickory Sand Company, Inc. will continue installing a new water main along Main Avenue NW, as part of the City Walk water and sewer replacement project for the City of Hickory.  Construction will necessitate the closure of Main Avenue NW, from 2nd Street NW to North Center Street, beginning January 30.
