Carolina Built: Preserving African American History through Story with Author Kianna Alexander

Adult – Join us for an afternoon with Kianna Alexander – North Carolina native and a featured author on the North Carolina Reads statewide book club organized by NC Humanities. Alexander will discuss the research and writing of her novel Carolina Built, which novelizes the life of real estate magnate Josephine N. Leary in a previously untold story of passion, perseverance, and building a legacy after emancipation in North Carolina.  Alexander will discuss the preservation of African American stories and the research and writing of her historical fiction novel.

Kianna Alexander will speak from 2-3pm at Drendel Auditorium. After a short break, a book sale and signing will commence at 3:30pm in the Meeting Room of Patrick Beaver Memorial Library. Adventure Bound Books from Morganton, NC will be on site to sell copies of the author’s books. 

No registration is required, but this program is first come, first served.
