Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) Neighborhood Meeting 2024

Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) Neighborhood Meeting 2024

WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM?
In FY 2024, the City of Hickory will be eligible to receive a grant up to approximately $300,000 and anticipates up to
an additional $100,000 of program income through the federal CDBG program, for a total budget of $400,000. The
primary objective of the program is the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a
suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.

WHAT ARE YOUR NEEDS?
In order to determine the areas of greatest need, to formulate appropriate plans for funds to be received under the CDBG
program and to evaluate past community development performance, the City is seeking input from its citizens. The City of
Hickory wants to hear from individuals, groups and neighborhood organizations about community needs and priorities.
What activities are appropriate? Where should this money go now and in the future? What programs are needed most

Please voice your suggestions within the eligible program activity areas and help the City of Hickory develop the best plan
for the use of these funds. The City’s website is www.hickorync.gov and our phone number is (828) 323-7414. Anyone
unable to attend these public meetings may submit written views, proposals or comments to the City of Hickory
Community Development Department; PO Box 398; Hickory, NC 28603. Comments will be received until February 23,
2024.
