This event has 2 separate sessions/dates available for registration.   You may register for one or both sessions.

 Saturday, 3rd &  Saturday June 17thth,  9:30 AM – 11:30 AM, Highland Recreation Center Skate Park , Registration Required, This event is a free event.

Learn to skateboard with an advanced instructor. This class is intended for beginners to learn board control, balance, and safety. No skateboard is required, we have ones you can use.  This clinic will be a 2hr session, 9:30-11:30am. . Helmets are required, pads are not required or provided but highly recommended. 9:30-11:30am.  10yrs -15yrs old and parents need to sign a waiver before attending. Registration is required.

All Ages – Join Jean McAnulty, a Catawba County Extension Certified Master Gardener and birding aficionado, for a special bird walk in the park. Bring your binoculars and your listening ears and see what birds you can spot or hear while learning about local and migratory bird species. Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring any water you may need. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a free event and registration is required. This event is a partnership with Hickory Public Libraries & Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism at https://hickory.activityreg.com/selectactivity_t2.wcs.

Home School P.E.

Home School PE is a free program for youth ages 7 to 11 years old and meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month between September-April. The goal of this program is to promote physical fitness and social interaction. Home School P.E is held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm for ages 7 to 11 in the Gymnasium at Highland Recreation Center.
