DESCRIPTION:For more information about the Sails Original Music Series and upcoming bands and in the event of inclement weather\, please visit www.hickorync.gov/SailsMusic and follow the Sails Original Music Series Facebook page\, www.facebook.com/SailsMusic. \n  \nThe City of Hickory’s Sails Original Music Series\, presented by Protection Products\, Inc.\, returns to the heart of downtown Hickory this September\, presenting free concerts of live original music under The Sails on the Square. Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Friday evenings on Union Square\, except for a change of venue for a special Sails Original Music Series concert at the Samuel William Davis\, Sr. Multipurpose Field in Taft Broome Park on Saturday\, Sept. 26\, at 5 p.m.\, in conjunction with the Festival on the Field event. \nSupporting sponsors of the series include Bob Sinclair Music\, Larry’s Music & Sound\, Pfahlert Creative Labs\, Olde Hickory Brewery\, and Crowne Plaza. \nIn addition to the seating available at Union Square\, audience members are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. A variety of close-by bars and restaurants offer food and beverages. \nABC permitted businesses within the Hickory Downtown Social District will sell beer\, wine\, and other alcoholic beverages in specially marked cups that may be consumed on Union Square\, sidewalks\, and other public areas within the designated boundaries of the social district. No outside alcohol may be brought into the social district. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate a wonderful season of holiday events in Hickory! Festivities kick off on Friday\, Nov. 21\, with the City of Hickory’s Lowes Foods Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting and continue through December. \nA special Holidaypalooza event will be presented by the City of Hickory\, the Hickory Downtown Development Association (HDDA)\, and the Hickory Farmers Market on Saturday\, Nov. 21\, from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Union Square in downtown Hickory. \nThe merry event will offer visits with Santa Claus and the Thanksgiving Turkey from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Santa will then host a holiday story time at 1 p.m. with help from his friends at Hickory Public Library. \nThroughout the Holidaypalooza event downtown\, kids will be able to write letters to Santa at the HDDA table and participate in fun\, holiday activities provided by Hickory Public Library staff. \nAdditionally\, this year for the first time\, the Hickory Farmers Market will host a holiday market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in conjunction with this event. \nEnjoy the downtown businesses and the holiday market for all your holiday treats and shopping. \nFor a listing of additional holiday events happening around Hickory\, please visit www.hickorync.gov/holidaypalooza.
