Offices will reopen Monday\, Dec. 29\, at 8:30 a.m. \nCity offices will also be closed for New Year’s Day on Thursday\, Jan. 1\, 2026\, and will reopen on Friday\, Jan. 2\, 2026\, at 8:30 a.m. \nOther City of Hickory department closings and/or schedule updates: \nPublic Services\nThe Solid Waste Division and its services will be suspended on Thursday\, Dec. 25\, for Christmas Day. Due to this closing\, all services (garbage\, recycling\, yard waste\, and leaf collection) will be shifted one day for the remainder of the week. The Thursday route will be collected on Friday\, and the Friday route will be collected on Saturday. \n \nHickory Public Library \nHickory Public Library\, the Patrick Beaver Memorial main facility and the Ridgeview Branch\, will be closed Wednesday through Friday\, Dec. 24-26\, as well as Thursday\, Jan. 1\, 2026. For New Year’s Eve\, Patrick Beaver Memorial Library and Ridgeview Branch Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday\, Dec. 31. \nParks\, Recreation & Sports Tourism\nThe Parks\, Recreation & Sports Tourism Administrative Offices will be closed Wednesday through Friday\, Dec. 24-26\, as well as Thursday\, Jan. 1\, 2026. \nAll Hickory recreation centers will be closed on Wednesday\, Dec. 24\, and Thursday\, Dec. 25\, for the Christmas holiday\, as well as Thursday\, Jan. 1\, 2026\, for New Year’s Day. \nOn Friday\, Dec. 26\, Highland Recreation Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Ridgeview Recreation Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Brown Penn Recreation Center will be closed Dec. 26. \nFor New Year’s Eve\, Highland Recreation Center will close early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday\, Dec. 31. Ridgeview and Brown Penn recreation centers will be open with modified hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31. \nThe Ceramics Studio at Winkler Park will be closed Wednesday\, Dec. 24\, through Monday\, Jan. 5\, 2026. \nWestmont Senior Center will be closed Wednesday\, Dec. 24\, through Tuesday\, Jan. 6\, 2026. \nParks will be open daily through the holidays. \nPolice \nThe main lobby and Records Division at Hickory Police Department will be closed on Wednesday through Friday\, Dec. 24-26\, as well as Thursday\, Jan. 1\, 2026. Crash reports can be retrieved online through the department’s Crash Report Database. \nAirport\nHickory Regional Airport will be closed except for emergency call out FBO services from 3 p.m. on Wednesday\, Dec. 24\, until Friday\, Dec. 26 at 7 a.m. for Christmas.
