Mayor - Hank Guess Hank Guess

Mayor Hank Guess retired from the Hickory Police Department as a Lieutenant with 30 years of service in 2008.  He served as the Ward 4 Councilman on Hickory City Council from 2009-2017 before being elected as Mayor for the City of Hickory on November 7, 2017.  Guess graduated from Hickory High School in 1977, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Gardner-Webb in 1986, and graduated from the 210th Session of the FBI National Academy.  Mayor Guess currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Pregnancy Care Center, Family Guidance Center, and Community Services Block Grant.  He is a volunteer with North Carolina Special Olympics and is a member of the Rotary Club of Hickory, Western Catawba Kiwanis Club, Hickory Elks Lodge, and Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church. Guess has been married to his wife Tammy for 30 years and they have two adult sons, Justin Guess and wife Monica and Jacob Guess, who both reside in Hickory.

Ward 1

Council Member Tony Wood of Ward 1 was elected in November 2019. He served two full terms on the Hickory Parks & Recreation Commission and is a member of the Hickory Rotary Club.  He volunteers with First United Methodist Church’s Parable Garden Ministry that supports the Hickory Soup Kitchen.  Tony is an Executive Recruiter and owns the firm Anthony, Paige & Blake, Inc.

Ward 2

Council Member Charlotte Williams of Ward 2 is the Associate Dean of Engaged and Global Learning and the Program Coordinator for the Human and Community Service major at Lenoir-Rhyne University. She serves on the Habitat for Humanity Board and the Cognitive Connection Substance Abuse Program Board.  She previously held leadership roles as the Vice-Chair of the Hickory City Public School Board, President of the Women’s Resource Center, Vice-Chair on the Council of Adolescents, and Secretary of the United Arts Council.

Ward 3

Council Member Danny Seaver of Ward 3 is an advisor of the award winning Key Club at Hickory High School, member and President of the Hickory Kiwanis Club, member and Past President of the Bethlehem Lions Club, past member of the Hickory Public School Board, is a Patterson School Foundation member, and a member of Western Piedmont Sister Cities Association.

Councilman - David Williams Councilman David L. Williams


Ward 4

Council Member David Williams was elected as the Ward 4 Councilman in November 7, 2017.  Williams is the owner and creator of Plush Kutz Barbershop and PK Products. He is a Licensed Barber Instructor and actively serves as a member of the Hickory Rotary Club and the Hickory Branch NAACP. David also served as a member of the Hickory Parks and Recreation Commission.

Ward 5

Council Member David Zagaroli of Ward 5 has fulfilled three full terms and two partial terms on the Public Art Commission (PAC), served on the Salt Block Board, is a member of the Rotary for twenty-one years, and has served on the Vestry of Church of the Ascension twice.

Council Member Jill Patton of Ward 6 is a co-chair of the Jobs and Economy Taskforce, Foresight Committee, a YMCA-Board member and Secretary of the Corporate Board 2000-2008, a Hickory Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, Rotarian of the Year 2008-2009, served as a Hickory Rotary Club President 2012/2013, was a YMCA - 2011 Corporate Board member, a former Catawba County Council for the Arts board member and finance committee member, a former Bank of Granite Board of Directors, former council member of HTLC, farmer’s market Board Member, and Girl Scout Board Member 2002-2005.

City Attorney - John Crone John Crone


City Attorney

John Crone has served as the City Attorney since 1995.  He is currently a member of Young, Morphis, Bach, and Taylor and is experienced in municipal law, asset protection, real estate, personal injury, and eminent domain law.
