Hickory Shared Access

Hickory Shared Access for Public Schools

Hickory Public Library provides students access to additional educational materials, programs, and resources.  It is a unique account to access books and electronic resources from the Hickory Public Library.

Students can download e-books, audiobooks and music online at any time. They can borrow up to 5 printed or CD audio books (no DVDs or music CDs). Students will not be charged overdue fines, but will be responsible for fees for lost books. Students can be reminded of due dates by email or text.

Parents and guardians:
It is your responsibility to monitor your student’s internet activity, including books/resources checked out through Hickory Shared Access.  Although use of library resources outside the school environment is encouraged, internet activity from home networks is not filtered by the school system and/or public library.  Hickory Public Library develops a broad collection for the entire community, and includes materials that may not be ideal for young readers.  Teachers, school library media coordinators, and librarians are available to guide choices, provide reading lists, and recommend age-appropriate websites for you and your child.

* Children ages 11 and younger must be accompanied by an adult when visiting library facilities.  Library Wi-Fi is available to anyone who brings their own device, regardless of age.
