Hickory firefighters extinguish outbuildings and vehicle on fire

At approximately 10:02 a.m. Tuesday morning, Hickory firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire located in the area of 3240 1st Ave Drive SE. On arrival, firefighters reported two outbuildings on fire. A vehicle parked under one of the buildings was also burning. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fires and to keep them from spreading to the wooded area.

Hickory Fire Department responded with two engines, one ladder, and two command units. Catawba County Fire Marshal’s office also responded to the incident and conducted the investigation. No injuries were reported.

A Catawba County Fire Investigator determined the cause of the fire to be accidental due to welding work which was being performed.
