Hickory firefighters respond to house fire on Mack Court

At approximately 19:15 p.m. Sunday evening, Hickory firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire located in the area of 1669 Mack Court. On arrival, firefighters reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the single story residence. Firefighters confirmed occupants were out of the burning residence and then worked to contain the fire. The roof collapsed causing extensive damage to the house and creating harder extinguishment of the fire. The fire was reported controlled at 20:10.

Hickory Fire Department responded with three engines, one ladder, one rescue truck, and two command units. Catawba County EMS also responded to the incident.

No injuries were reported and damages were considered major. Fire Investigators determined the fire cause to be an electrical failure.
