Hickory firefighters respond to mobile home fire

At approximately 16:09 Monday afternoon, Hickory firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire located in the area of 1225 14th Street NE. Firefighters responded with two engines, one ladder, rescue truck, and two command units. Catawba County EMS also responded to the incident.  

On arrival at 16:12, firefighters observed smoke coming from the structure and were told that a person was still inside the structure. Firefighters removed one person from the structure and worked to contain the fire, which was burning in the rear of the mobile home. The occupant was checked by Catawba County EMS and released at the scene.

The fire was reported under control at 16:19. No injuries were reported. Damages to the mobile home were considered major. The Red Cross was called to assist the occupant.

Hickory Fire Investigators responded to the incident. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical.
