Hickory Police investigate shooting at Hillside Garden Apartments

Deveion Lasean Grayson has died as a result of his injuries received during the shooting incident on Thursday, June 2, 2022. The investigation into this incident is now a homicide investigation.

It has been determined there were multiple subjects shooting at one another during this incident. Tamoje Daejouir Anderson has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill in connection with the shooting of Adrian Lamont Pendergrass Jr. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges are anticipated. On Thursday June 2, 2022, at approximately 5:48 p.m., Hickory Police Officers responded to the 800 Block of 1st St SE after receiving 911 calls in reference to multiple gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old black male, Deveion Lasean Grayson, lying on the sidewalk next to Hillside Garden Apartments, 829 1st St SE, injured from a gunshot wound to his head. Officers also located a 22-year-old black male, Adrian Lamont Pendergrass Jr., lying in the grass next to the apartments injured from a gunshot wound to his leg. Catawba County EMS responded and transported both subjects to local hospitals with life threatening injuries.

During the initial investigation, Officers conducted a search of the area and located a 19-year-old black male, Tamoje Daejouir Anderson, hiding inside a nearby apartment with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
