As part of the Old Lenoir Road multi-use path project, ECS Southeast LLP will be taking cores out of the Old Lenoir Road roadway on Monday, March 23. ECS is a geotechnical and testing subcontractor for Vaughn & Melton, the firm designing the project. The work will consist of taking nine cores in the section between Ninth Street NW and 12th Avenue NW (Geitner Road). Cores will be taken in the northbound and southbound lanes, with one lane closed at a time. Work is scheduled for between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to avoid rush hours, and is expected to be completed in one day. The purpose of the work is to determine if there is a concrete roadway beneath the asphalt, which would have a significant effect on the cost of realigning the roadway for the multi-use path.
