The City of Hickory Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting, sponsored by Lowes Foods, traditionally kicks off the holiday season the Friday before Thanksgiving. The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. in Downtown Hickory and is immediately followed by the tree lighting with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Union Square. Music by Hickory Music Factory and visits with Mr. and Mrs. Claus continue until 8:30 p.m. Numerous downtown businesses remain open throughout the event and offer specials, making the evening a great time for patrons to begin their holiday shopping. Make it a full night of fun and festivities downtown.
