Two alarm fire destroys mobile home

At 10:58 a.m. today, Hickory firefighters were dispatched to a possible structure fire on 2nd Avenue SW between the 1300-1700 block in the area of the city water tower. Multiple 911 calls were received confirming a working fire and smoke was reported visible from several blocks away. A second alarm was requested for additional personnel. On arrival just a few minutes later, firefighters reported a fully-involved mobile home fire at 1530 2nd Avenue SW. Personnel responded with three engines, one ladder, one heavy rescue, and two battalion chiefs.

No civilian injuries were reported; however, one firefighter was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The fire was brought under control at approximately 11:31 a.m. Exact damage estimates are not readily available at this time, although the home is considered a total loss. Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be electrical.
