Annual Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics NC

Registration for the Special Olympics Polar Plunge 2026 is now open! 

The Hickory Police Department will host its annual Polar Plunge on Saturday, Feb. 21, to benefit the Special Olympics of North Carolina. The event will be held at The Hickory Foundation YMCA outdoor pool located at 701 1st St NW in Hickory. 

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with the plunge starting at 1 p.m. A minimum donation of $50 is required to participate. Students with a student ID can participate for $25.
