Neighborhoods

The City of Hickory has been working with citizens and neighborhoods for decades, and in the mid-1990s, the City of Hickory officially started a neighborhood association program. There are eight neighborhood associations and two business associations that are currently active. The neighborhood associations include: Claremont, Forest Hills, Green Park, Highland, Kenworth, Lakeland Park, Ridgeview, and West Hickory/Westmont. The Hickory Downtown Development Association and the Viewmont Business Association represent the two recognized business associations. City staff serve as neighborhood liaisons to the groups and help provide them information about programs, events, projects and issues going on in the City and liaisons are available to answer questions or find answers to the questions. Hickory police officers and firefighters attend all neighborhood meetings and give updates on happenings in their neighborhood.
