Finance

The City of Hickory’s Finance Department, comprised of the Accounting, Billing, Collections, and Purchasing Divisions, is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the City while complying with governmental accounting standards. The Finance Department is available to answer questions concerning financially-related matters.

The Accounting and Purchasing Divisions are located on the third floor of City Hall. These divisions are responsible for payroll processing, vendor payments, debt management, investment of City funds, asset management, and all other financial-related responsibilities. The Billing and Collections Divisions are located on the second floor of City Hall. The Billing and Collections Divisions are available to receive payments for water and sewer bills, building permits, beer and wine licenses, leasing downtown parking spaces and dumpsters, and all other revenue collected by the City. Collections staff can answer questions relating to water and sewer taps, meter reading, bill inquiries and customer service.

For citizen convenience, a drive up window is available behind City Hall to accept payments in cash, check, or money orders. The drive up window is currently open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A drop box is provided at the drive up window and is available 24 hours a day.
