Celebrate Summer with Awesome Programs at The Learning Lab

The following events take place in The Learning Lab at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library.  Be sure to register or mark your calendar for these awesome programs that take place throughout June!  

 

All Together Now Puzzle Piece Mural   

June 1-June 30  

All Ages - Get creative and decorate puzzle piece cutouts to show what our Summer Learning Program theme “All Together Now” means to you. Blank puzzle pieces and art supplies will be located upstairs in The Learning Lab starting June 1. Puzzle pieces can be continuously added to the mural and will be displayed through June 30th. Have fun creating and watch as the mural grows!

Tiny Tech: Bugs  

Sat. | June 10 | 10-11:30 a.m.  

Ages 7+ - Learn about the anatomy of crawly creatures and make butterfly rings, fuzzy bugs that light up, and more! No registration is required.  

 

Fantastic Fungi   

Thurs. | June 15 | 2 p.m.  

Ages 7+ - Mushrooms are pretty Fun-gis! Learn all about fantastic fungi with a hands-on craft, mushroom-growing blocks, and more! Learn the growth cycle of a mushroom, dissect one to learn about its anatomy, and look at it under a microscope! Registration is required and will open three weeks before the event. A Hickory Public Library card is required to register.  

 

Random Fandom: Superheroes  

Mon. | June 19 | 5-6:30 p.m.  

All Ages 7+ - Calling all superheroes! Create superhero-inspired fan art, participate in an exciting superhero trivia showdown, and bring your comics and graphic novels for the ultimate comic swap event. Dress in character for a fun photo booth opportunity! Registration is required and will open three weeks before the event.   

 

Sewing Pet Bandanas  

Thurs. | June 22 | 2-3 p.m. 

Thurs. | June 22 | 6-7 p.m.  

Teen and Adult - Make a furry friend feel loved with handmade bandanas! Participants will make one bandana to be donated to a local shelter and one to take home. Registration is required and will open three weeks before the event. A Hickory Public Library card is required to register.  

  

Carnivorous Plant Terrariums with Life Doesn’t Succ   

Wed. | June 28 | 6-7 p.m.   

Adult - Get ready for a fun and fascinating workshop with Life Doesn’t Succ. Build your very own terrarium featuring carnivorous plants. Learn about this unique plant type and its many species, interesting facts, and how to keep your new carnivorous friends happy and healthy. A Hickory Public Library card is required to register. Registration is required and will open three weeks before the event.
