Police Telecommunicator
This position receives and processes requests for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatches law enforcement, animal control, and other resources.
Community Response Unit (CRU)
HPD hires qualified candidates to join the Community Response Unit, a unit of security aides that assist in patrolling assigned areas. The assigned areas could vary in physical terrain and locations to include City parks and trail systems, the Downtown Social District, and the Hickory City Walks. CRUs will also conduct traffic crash investigations.

Non-Sworn positions at HPD include records, animal control, telecommunications, administrative positions, and various other roles. These positions are part of HPD’s Support Services Division.
