Downtown Streetscape Project Continues, Road Closures Set for July 20-24

Beginning Monday, July 20, at 8 a.m., a private contractor will close portions of Government Avenue SW, Second Street SW, and First Street SW as work progresses on the Rural Downtown Economic Development Streetscapes Project. The parking lots at 1 2nd St SW and 108 Government Ave SW will also be closed during this period.

Access to the Armory and Bella Age will remain available, and all sidewalks leading to nearby businesses will stay open. Every downtown business in the affected area will continue to be accessible via these sidewalks.

A detour route will be provided. Drivers are encouraged to slow down and use caution when traveling near the work zone to help ensure crews can complete their work safely each day.

Weather permitting, this work is expected to be completed by Friday, July 24, at 5 p.m.
