Hickory Police investigate shooting

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at approximately 11:13 p.m., Hickory Police Officers responded to the 800 Block of 1st St SE after receiving a 911 call that a male had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old black male, Michael Emmanuel Tucker Jr., sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2008 Honda Accord injured from a gunshot wound. Catawba County EMS responded and transported Tucker to Catawba Valley Medical Center where he was initially treated prior to being transferred to Carolina’s Medical Center by helicopter. He is currently in critical condition.

During the initial investigation, it was determined that Tucker left his apartment to travel to a nearby convenience store prior to the gunshots being fired. It appears that the suspects fired multiple shots into Tucker’s vehicle from the roadway.
