To beautify and maintain all assigned city properties in order for them to be aesthetically pleasing and functional in purpose for the benefit of the citizens.
Goals and Objectives:
Set by Council, City Administration, the Community Appearance Commission, other city departments, and the citizens of Hickory.
Landscape Services Four Major Areas of Responsibilities:
- Turf grass maintenance. Mow 26 acres approximately 40 times per year, the application of fertilizers and weed control, and yearly fall leaf removal.
- Cemetery Operations. Maintain five city cemeteries, works with funeral homes and monument companies in assisting families in their burial needs.
- Landscaping. Maintenance of all entranceways, plant and maintain all city flower and shrub beds, maintains the Central Business District, maintain all the downtown planters beds, and finally design and install all landscaping projects on assigned city properties.
- Tree plantings and maintenance. Responsible for the tree care on all City of Hickory properties to include all right of ways.
