New hires for Hickory Fire Department

The following persons have been hired as firefighters for the Hickory Fire Department.

Logan Gilreath 
Logan Gilreath been hired as a firefighter with the Hickory Fire Department.   As a firefighter with Broadway Fire Department for seven years, Gilreath joins the fire department with experience and several certifications.  Gilreath is certified as a level II firefighter and in both Awareness and Operations levels of Hazardous Materials thorough the North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission.  He is also certified as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) through the North Carolina Office of the Emergency Services.  He is engaged to Nikki Hash.    

Jason Hines   
The Hickory Fire Department recently hired Jason Hines as a firefighter.  Hines has served as a firefighter and Chaplain with Sawmills Fire & Rescue for over 10 years and a firefighter with Lenoir Fire Department for 4 ½ years.  He is certified as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) through the North Carolina Office of Emergency Services and a Level II firefighter through the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission.  He has completed training in many areas including Hazardous Materials certification in both levels Awareness and Operations.  Hines has also completed training as a Fire Service Instructor and as a Technical Rescuer in the areas of Ropes, Water Rescue, Wilderness and VMR. He has also completed the Driver Operator pumps classes and Fire Officer Levels 1&2.  In March 2018, he completed NC Breathing Equipment School.  Hines has a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Appalachian State University.   In 2016, he received the NAMB Public Service Chaplaincy Endorsement and in 2017 he was ordained as a Chaplain.  Hines was certified in Mental Health First Aid by National Council for Behavioral Health in March 2020.  He is married to Tamara and they have two children, Brittany and Landon.  

Gabriel Howard 
Gabriel Howard has been hired as a firefighter with the Hickory Fire Department.   As a junior firefighter for Bandy’s Fire Department and a volunteer firefighter with Shanghai Volunteer Fire Department, Howard has four years’ experience in the fire service and holds several certifications.  He holds Firefighter Level 2 and Hazardous Materials Operations certificates through the North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission.  He is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician through the North Carolina Office of Emergency Services. When asked, Howard accredited his parents John and Deborah Goodman for raising him with the skills needed to be a successful firefighter.

Daniel Osborne  
The Hickory Fire Department recently hired Daniel Osborne as a firefighter.  Osborne has been a firefighter EMT in Florida for three and a half years. He and his wife and two children moved to Hickory in December and are excited to set roots and to call Hickory home.  Osborne is certified as a Level 2 Firefighter, and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations levels.  He is trained as a certified EMT.  He has attended Unitek College where he received EMT certification, Tallahassee Community College where here obtained firefighter and hazardous materials training, and Florida State University. 

Conor Scott  
The Hickory Fire Department recently hired Conor Scott as a firefighter.  Scott has been a member of St Stephens Fire Department for four years. He is certified in first aid and CPR and in Hazardous Materials.  Scott has also competed training as a level 1 and level 2 firefighter through the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission.   

Dylan Wells 
Dylan Wells has been hired as a firefighter with the Hickory Fire Department.  Wells has been a member of Wittenberg and Bladensburg Fire Departments and has over 10 years’ experience as a firefighter.  He is a Lieutenant with Wittenberg Fire Department.  He joins the department with several certifications including Level 1 and 2 Firefighter and a North Carolina certified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) He has training in Fire Education and Hazardous Materials and CPR.  Wells attended the NASCAR Technical Institute and is a certified automotive engineer.  He has two daughters Ashlyn Marie age 9 and Sophia Ann age 7.
