Adam PACT

Adam PACT is located in the Northwest quadrant of the City of Hickory. Primary roadways include Highway 127 North, 2nd and 3rd Avenue NW, Old Lenoir Road and 4th Street NW. Lake Hickory borders Adam PACT to the north. Adam PACT is home to many businesses, parks, churches, schools and residential communities.

Baker PACT

Baker PACT encompasses most of the northeast section of Hickory. This area is the most diverse area of the city featuring residential neighborhoods, commercial and industrial businesses, Lenoir Rhyne University and Hickory High School.

Charles PACT

Charles PACT encompasses most of the southeast section of Hickory. This area has a number of residential neighborhoods that cover a wide social and economic spectrum. Charles PACT is also home to Catawba Valley Community College and Hickory’s largest retail area. In the LR Blvd and US 70 SE area, residents and visitors can find numerous choices for shopping and dining. Also in this section of Hickory are the Hickory Furniture Mart, which attracts thousands of visitors from around the globe, and the Hickory-Metro Convention Center.

David PACT

David PACT entails the Ridgeview and Kenworth communities which are rich with heritage and diversity and offers many churches, residential neighborhoods, commercial and industrial businesses, recreation center and library.

Edward PACT

Edward PACT is located primarily in the southwest section of Hickory. Edward PACT is comprised of commercial and industrial neighborhoods. It is also home to Appalachian State Hickory Campus. Three main arteries run through Edward PACT – Highway 321, Interstate 40 and Highway 70.

Specialized Units

Special Operations Team (S.O.T.)

The Special Operations Team is a group of specially trained officers that come together when a tactical response is needed. The mission of the Special Operations Team is to respond to and stabilize any critical incidents while reducing the chance of injury to all persons involved. Members of the team have primary assignments within the department, but are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are ready to respond at a moment’s notice. The team trains utilizing scenario based training in adverse conditions to prepare for any critical incident that may arise.

K9 Unit

The Hickory Police Department Canine Unit functions as a service to enhance the operations of Police Patrol PACTs and Narcotics. Our canine teams are deployed on high risk calls for service, narcotic searches, fugitive/missing persons, building searches and tracking. They are used as well for protection for the police canine handler and other officers. Currently the police department has four canines that work on patrol handling calls for police service. Each canine is certified annually.

Drone Unit

The Hickory Police Department’s Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Unit is composed of trained and certified personnel who operate drones to support a wide range of public safety missions. The unit provides assistance during searches for missing persons, helps enhance officer safety during high-risk operations, and offers real-time aerial overwatch to improve situational awareness for critical incidents.

In addition to police operations, HPD’s Code Enforcement Division utilizes drones to efficiently inspect properties, document violations, and support enforcement efforts. The integration of drone technology allows HPD to respond more effectively, work more safely, and better serve the community.
