Parking Enforcement

Parking Enforcement consists of one civilian parking enforcement officer. This officer is responsible for parking efficiency of the central business area and is supervised by Sgt. Randy Isenhour.

Animal Control

City of Hickory Animal Control is a function of the Hickory Police Department. Animal Control Unit is given the task of enforcing local City Ordinances and State Statutes. These laws are primarily to protect citizens and their pets from injury and to assist in maintaining a quality level of life for both. The Animal Control Unit attempts whenever possible to find homes and owners for stray dogs or cats and works with the Catawba County Animal Shelter who aid in the adoption process. The Animal Control Unit administers a spaying/neutering program, which is funded by the Hickory City Council. This program assists financially in the spaying/neutering of dogs and cats. To participate in this program an individual must reside in the City of Hickory and have a single income of less than $20,000 or a combined household income of $25,000 or less. Applications for the program are available at Hickory Police Department or you may click on the application to download the file.

Records

Records is responsible for entering and storing crime data within the City of Hickory. The crime data is entered into the department's Records Management System. Once entered, the data becomes part of the FBI's Uniform Crime Report. Records are stored and remain confidential unless released under the Public Records Act. A copy of a police report can be obtained Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. There is a $3.00 fee for police reports if picked up in person but if downloaded on computer there is no charge.
