Awesome Programs this July in The Learning Lab

Join us in The Learning Lab at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library for some awesome programs this July as we celebrate summer!
Tiny Tech: Tech + Art Sat. | July 8 | 10-11:30 a.m.
Ages 7+ - This month’s Tiny Tech is a mashup of technology and art! Use 3D-printed stamps to create a beautiful card, learn the basics of color theory, design scribble bots, and more! No registration is required.

Mini Drones
Mon. | July 10 | 2 p.m.
Ages 12+ - Learn all about drones! One half of this program will be learning how drones work as you wire your own motorized popsicle stick drone. In the next half, fly a mini drone through an obstacle course! Learn the basics of flying a drone, flight safety, drone physics, and more! Registration is required and will open three weeks before the event. A Hickory Public Library card is required to register.

Fall Gardening Talk & Plant Swap
Sat. | July 22 | 1-2 p.m. Adult - NC Cooperative Extension Agent April Vigardt will lead an informative session on fall gardening. Yes, you can still plant food! Just because stores are closing out their gardening sections mid-summer doesn't mean there isn't food you can still grow. We will be talking about planting garlic, carrots, salad greens, onions, some root crops, cold hardy herbs, and more. If participating in the plant swap following the talk, please bring healthy, pest-free plants, starts, and/or seeds to share. Registration is required and will open three weeks before the event.

Random Fandom: Dungeons & Dragons Mon. | July 24 | 5-6:30 p.m. Teen & Adult - Explore the fantasy worlds of Dungeons & Dragons. Start your epic quest for treasure, fame, and glory as you build your DnD character, learn basic gameplay, sew your own dice pouch, and more! Registration is required and will open three weeks before the event.

Teen Tech Take Apart
Thurs. | July 27 | 5-7 p.m.
Ages 12+ - City of Hickory IT staff will teach you about the inner workings of computers as you deconstruct laptops and other devices. Afterward, use the disassembled pieces to create funky tech artwork. Registration is required and will open three weeks before the event. A Hickory Public Library card is required to register.
