Councilman Tony Wood completes advanced leadership training provided by the UNC School of Government

Hickory City Councilman Tony Wood successfully completed the Advanced Leadership Corps (ALC) training offered annually to select local elected officials by the School of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

ALC is an intensive leadership development program designed by the School’s Center for Public Leadership and Governance. The weeklong residential program is a dynamic experience that helps participants learn about their leadership styles, inspire others to work toward a shared vision, and gain insights into working together to build better relationships and achieve far-reaching results. More than 200 local elected leaders across North Carolina have completed this selective program since its inception in 2013.

When asked about the ALC experience, Councilman Wood shared, “The ALC experience is invaluable. It is an opportunity to learn from the brightest minds in leadership coaching and collaborate with other elected officials from across North Carolina. My goal for attending ALC was to become a better leader and to equip myself with knowledge and skills that will help me better serve the citizens of Hickory, and what I gained from the experience exceeded my expectations.”
