Edible North Carolina with Marcie Cohen Ferris – Virtual Book Talk

Interested in learning about great food and our food landscape. Be sure to come out to hear Marcie Cohen Ferris for her Virtual Book Talk on Monday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. Marcie Cohen Ferris will present a virtual talk on the book Edible North Carolina : A Journey Across A State of Flavor. Edible North Carolina is a collection from journalists, farmers, chefs, entrepreneurs, scholars, and food activists, and offers a deeply immersive portrait of North Carolina’s contemporary food landscape. In this talk, she will further discuss food and foodways across North Carolina and you will not want to miss it.

Ferris has authored books such as The Edible South: The Power of Food and the Making of an American Region, Matzoh Ball Gumbo: Culinary Tales of the Jewish South, and most recently, Ferris edited Edible North Carolina: A Journey Across a State of Flavor.

Marcie Cohen Ferris is professor of American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ferris’s research and teaching interests include southern history and culture–particularly the foodways and material culture of the American South, the history of the Jewish South, and American Jewish identity and culture. She is a former president of the Southern Foodways Alliance.
