Four new hires for Hickory Fire Department
The following persons have been hired as firefighters for the Hickory Fire Department.
Colton Whisnant
Colton Whisnant has been hired on as a firefighter with Hickory Fire Department. He completed the CVCC Fire Academy in 2023, certifying as a Level 2 Firefighter and in Hazardous Materials in both Awareness and Operations Levels through the North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission, and in Technical Rescue. Whisnant graduated with an Associate's degree in Fire Protection Technology. His family consists of his father, Thurman, and mother, Donna Whisnant.
Julian Roberts
Julian Roberts was hired on with Hickory Fire Department as a firefighter. He completed the CVCC Fire Academy in 2023, certifying as a Level 2 Firefighter and in Hazardous Materials in both Awareness and Operations Levels through the North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission, and in Technical Rescue. He is also certified as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) through the North Carolina Office of Emergency Services. Roberts’ family consists of his mother, Ann Roberts, and three siblings, Cameron, Alina, and Amelia.
Samuel Hardy
Samuel Hardy has been hired on as a firefighter with Hickory Fire Department. He started his firefighting career as a volunteer for Oxford Fire Department. Hardy is certified as a Level 2 Firefighter and in Hazardous Materials in both Awareness and Operations Levels through the North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission, and in Technical Rescue. He is married to Amy and they have a 7-month-old named Nickolas.
Jonas Bradshaw
Jonas Bradshaw has been hired on as a firefighter with Hickory Fire Department. Bradshaw completed the CVCC Fire Academy in 2023, certifying as a Level 2 Firefighter and in Hazardous Materials in both Awareness and Operations Levels through the North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission, and is also certified in Technical Rescue. He served in the Army with the 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment from 2019-2023. His family consists of his mother, Robin, and father, Randy.
