Hickory Fire Battalion Chief Retires

Congratulations to Battalion Chief Barry Bailey on his retirement.   

Barry Bailey (retired)

Barry Bailey has retired as a member of the Hickory Fire Department. He began his career with the Hickory Fire Department on August 9, 1993. Prior to employment with the Hickory Fire Department, Bailey attended ECPI in Virginia Beach and graduated with an Associate degree in Applied Technology. He is certified as a level I and II firefighter through the North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission. In 2000, he received his certification as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) through the North Carolina Office of Emergency Services. Bailey has completed training in many areas including fire apparatus training, hazardous materials certification operations level and technical rescue. In 2007, he was certified as a level II Fire Service Instructor and during 2013 he completed the North Carolina Fire Officer level II certification. In 2016, he was promoted to Battalion Chief.    

After retirement, Bailey plans to continue the legacy of operating his grandfather’s concrete company and traveling with his finance, Lindsay (Linz).
