Hickory firefighters conduct specialized training

Thanks to the generosity of a company, Hickory firefighters are able to conduct some specialized training. The Morgan Companies have properties located at 204 US-321 NW, 217 15th Street NW, and 223 15th Street NW in Hickory, which are scheduled for demolition to make way for future development. As a result, The Morgan Companies have been generous enough to offer these structures to the fire department for the opportunity to utilize these structures to perform training.

Firefighters will be using the structures for ventilation practice, forcible entry techniques, and aerial operations. They will also utilize the structures for building construction design and search and rescue scenarios.

Hickory Fire Chief Matt Hutchinson stated, “The City of Hickory Fire Department would wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to The Morgan Companies and Scott Friedman for the generous opportunity to make use of their structures for advanced firefighting training. The use of acquired structures for fire and rescue topic-related training is invaluable and offers our department the chance to put previous training into practice in a real world environment. This type of experience will only enhance our abilities to provide the ultimate level of protection to our citizens.”
