Hickory Police investigate false report

Hickory Police are investigating a false report of an active shooter at Hickory High School that occurred on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 12:28 pm.

Officers responded to Hickory High School, 1234 3rd St NE after receiving reports of shots fired inside of the school. Hickory Police Officers were aware that all students are currently out of school for Spring Break and that the school was occupied by minimal staff. Officers cleared the building to ensure that all occupants of the building were safe.

Hickory Police Staff had received information earlier in the day about similar false reports occurring across the state and are currently investigating this incident with the assistance of local and state agencies.
