Hickory Police investigate fatal traffic crash

Hickory Police investigated a fatal traffic crash involving three vehicles on Monday, March 11.

At approximately 4:23 p.m., a red 2007 Nissan Titan pickup truck, driven by Sebastian Remigio, 46, of Hickory, was traveling west in the 1900 block of Highland Ave NE. The Nissan went left of center into oncoming traffic, causing a 2013 Ford SUV, driven by Hailey Brown, 29, of Lenoir, to swerve off the roadway and then strike the fence of Bumgarner Oil.

The Nissan continued to travel in the oncoming traffic lane and struck a 2021 Toyota Rav-4, driven by Theda Lindsay, 67, of Hickory, head on. The driver of the Nissan, Sebastian Remigio, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by Catawba County EMS.

The driver of the Toyota, Theda Lindsay, was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center with significant injuries by Catawba County EMS. She was later transported to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem for additional treatment.

Alcohol and speed are suspected factors in this crash related to the driver of the Nissan Titan. No charges have been filed as of Tuesday, March 12.
