Hickory Police investigate fatal wreck

The Hickory Police Department is investigating a fatal wreck that occurred on Saturday.

On November 12 at 6:07 p.m., a box truck was traveling south on N.C. 127 and moved into the middle turning lane to turn left onto 31st Avenue Court NE. As the driver of the vehicle turned on to the street, a moped, traveling north on N.C. 127, collided with the rear passenger side of the box truck.

The driver of the moped, Gerald Ray Fulbright, 46, of Hickory, was pronounced deceased on scene by Catawba County EMS.

No charges are filed at this time, and the investigation is on-going.
