Hickory Police investigate shooting

Hickory Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, January 31, where one male juvenile suffered serious injuries.

Officers responded to the area of South Center Street and 1st Avenue SE for reports of shots fired around 7:23 p.m. While investigating, the Long View Police Department reported they were also investigating a shooting. Investigators determined they were related and the incident had originally occurred in the reported area in Hickory where shots were fired into a vehicle. The victim then drove to Hilltop Apartments in Long View.

The juvenile was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. No other injuries were reported.

No charges have been filed as of Thursday, February 1, and this investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.

Hickory Police have charged and arrested a suspect for the shooting that occurred on Wednesday, January 31, that left one seriously injured.

Zamarion Emanuel Calloway, 19, of Hickory was charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of discharging a weapon into occupied property. He was not given a bond.

Investigators determined that Calloway shot into a vehicle near South Center Street and 1st Avenue SE, injuring one of three occupants. The vehicle the occupants were in, a 2010 Nissan Altima, had been reported stolen to the Hickory Police Department earlier that day. The injured victim, a male juvenile, was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he is in stable condition as of Friday, February 2.
