Rotary presents mock check to City staff and council members

Hickory Rotary donates $150K toward park improvements

The Rotary Club of Hickory has pledged to donate $150,000 to the City of Hickory to make improvements at Miracle of Hickory Park.

The City of Hickory will match the Rotary’s donation. The funds will be used to purchase new playground equipment at the park.

“With the motto, ‘Service Above Self,’ the Hickory Rotary actively looks for ways to give back and support our neighbors in Hickory,” said Rotary President Hank Guess. “Through our local Rotary Foundation, we are proud to make this donation to the City of Hickory and partner on this project.”

Once installed, the new playground will offer a variety of physical, social, and sensory experiences. With different zones of play offering multiple levels of challenge, the thoughtfully designed play space will feature inclusive elements such as adaptive swings, a wheelchair accessible glider, cozy spaces, and specially engineered slides.

“The City of Hickory appreciates the Rotary’s commitment to improving our community. Their generous donation will greatly enhance Miracle of Hickory Park and create a play space that Hickory families and visitors can enjoy for years to come,” said City Manager Warren Wood.

Miracle of Hickory Park is located at 1515 12th Street Drive NW in Hickory. Stay tuned for an announcement when the new playground has been installed at the park.
