House Fire

At approximately 7:41 a.m. Monday (September 5), Hickory firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire located in the area of 144 15th Street SE. On arrival just minutes later, they reported heavy amounts of smoke coming from the second floor and attic of the two-story residential building and heavy amounts of smoke inside the house.  
 
Firefighters checked the building to ensure all occupants were outside and worked to extinguish the fire. The fire was reported controlled by 8:20 a.m.  
 
Hickory Fire Department responded with two engines, one ladder, one rescue truck, and two command units. Catawba County EMS also responded to the incident.  
 
Fire Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be started by an electrical failure in the wiring between the first and second floor of the structure
