HPD investigates fatal stabbing

On Friday May 6, at approximately 11:12 p.m., the Hickory Police Department’s Communications Center received a 911 call from a male caller who advised that there was a verbal altercation in progress outside the residence of 321 2nd Avenue SE. Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old white male, Brandon Scott Willis, lying on the ground with several stab wounds. Catawba County EMS responded and transported Willis to Frye Regional Medical Center where he was initially treated prior to being transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.

During the initial investigation, witnesses stated that Brandon Willis was walking in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue SE when he began a verbal altercation with a 21-year-old white male, Christopher Isaiaha Bradley, and his younger brother who were sitting in a vehicle in the driveway of 321 2nd Avenue SE. It was reported that Willis attacked Christopher Bradley knocking him to the ground and continued to physically assault him. Bradley stabbed Willis during the assault and immediately called 911 for assistance. Investigators are continuing their investigation and additional details will be released as they become available.
