Julian G. Whitener Municipal Building / Hickory City Hall

Constructed in 1976-1977, the Julian G. Whitener Municipal Building (Hickory City Hall) serves as the main government offices of the City of Hickory. The building, named after former Hickory mayor Julian G. Whitener, houses several different departments and divisions, including the City Manager’s Office, Office of Business Development, Engineering, Fire & Life Safety, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Finance. Citizens visit City Hall for a variety of reasons, such as to pay a utility bill, apply for a permit, or to attend a City Council meeting in the Council Chambers.
